IndianIocl ScholarshipsOil offers 2600 Scholarships for Students of 10+/ITI, Engineering, MBBS & MBA Courses on merit cum means basis

1. IndianOil Merit Scholarships Scheme" for 10+/ITI studies : 2000 Scholarships are being offered for 10+/ITI studies.  The distribution of scholarships may be State-wise based on "Number of students appeared for 10th Standard during 2010-11".

2. "IndianOil Scholarships Scheme" for Graduate and Post-Graduate students : 600 scholarships are being offered for professional courses (Engineering-300 nos., MBBS-200 Nos. & MBA-100 Nos.).  The distribution of scholarships may be Zone-wise (as shown in the table below) based on "Number of students appeared for 12th Standard during 2010-11 and will be equitably distributed in the four zones given below. For MBA course marks obtained in graduate course will be considered.

Qualification:  Students pursuing full time/regular courses in these streams & studying in Schools/Colleges/Institutions/Universities recognized by MCI/AICTE/State Education Boards/ State Govt. / ICSC/CBSE/Central Govt./Association of Indian universities, shall be eligible to apply.   The student should have bonafide admission in the 1st year of School/College/Institute/University in the academic year 2011-12. Students of two year full time post graduate courses in Business Administration/Management recognized by Central/State Govt./Association of Indian universities and which are equivalent to MBA, are eligible for management stream scholarship. Students having confirmed admission in the first year of full time engineering degree course, MBBS, MBA and also 11th standard as well as those in the 1st year of 2 year ITI course are eligible to apply. In case of graduates, the average percentage of marks of all the academic years shall be treated as marks obtained by the candidate.   Similarly in case of 10th/12th, if percentage of marks obtained is not mentioned by Board/University, percentage of marks obtained shall be calculated on total aggregate marks.  Minimum eligibility percentage of marks for various categories will be as indicated below.

Gross Joint income of the family of the candidate from all sources (during financial year 2010-11) should not exceed Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only). Income certificate should be issued by Competent Revenue Authorities only.  The marks obtained in the qualifying examination making the students eligible to seek admission in the respective first year of these courses will be considered for selection. Normalization of marks of applicant shall be done for Engineering, MBBS & MBA streams to bring parity of marking system within different Boards/ Universities/Institutions. Candidates studying in 11th standard, 1st year of a 2 year ITI course, 1st year of Engineering degree, MBBS and MBA in the academic year 2011-12 are to apply through Online.Once the online application is submitted by an applicant, the system will generate a unique Registration Number which the applicants should note down for future reference/correspondence. CSIR UGC NET-2011 Notification Exam date: December 12, 2011

University Grants Commission
(www.ugc.ac.in) is conducting National Eligibility Test (NET) on December 12, 2011 (Monday) for short-listing students for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and eligibility for lectureship in Indian university.

Eligibility:
  • M.Sc. or Equivalent degree, with a minimum of 55% marks for General & OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates; 50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually handicapped candidates and Ph.D. degree holders who had passed Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991.
  • A candidate can also apply for the Test under RA (Result Awaited) category, if he/she is appearing or has appeared in the final year (Last Semester where Semester system is there) of M.Sc. OR equivalent degree examination during the Session (2011-2012). Such candidates will have to submit the attestation format (given at the reverse of the application form) duly certified by the Head of the Deptt./Institute over his/her signature andrubber stamp (with address and name) from where the candidate is appearing OR has appeared in the final year/Last semester of M.Sc. or equivalent degree examination. However, such candidates shall be admitted to the
  • Test provisionally. They shall be considered eligible for JRF-(NET)/ LS-(NET), If they are able to produce the proof of having passed the Master’s Degree examination in the relevant or related subject with the requisite percentage of marks and within the stipulated time frame.
  • Students enrolled in Integrated MS-Ph.D Program are also eligible to apply for JRF in subject areas of NET. Their eligibility for Lectureship will be subject to fulfilling the criteria laid down by UGC.
Age:
  • For JRF (NET): Minimum 19 Years and maximum 28 years as on July1,2011 (upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years as in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Physically handicapped/Visually handicapped and female applicants).
  • For Lectureship (NET): Minimum 19 years, as on 01-07-2011. No upper age limit.

    Eligibility criteria:

    • Students, who have got admission in a recognized college to pursue c, on the basis of a competitive examination.
    • Students, who have got admission in a recognized college to pursue technical/ professional courses, without facing any competitive examination, will also be eligible for scholarship.  However, such students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary/graduation level. Selection of these students will be done strictly of merit.
    • A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the course.
    • The annual family income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh per annum from all sources.
    • A student residing in a particular State/UT will be entitled for scholarship under    the quota of that State/UT only irrespective of his place of study.

    How to apply: Applications in the prescribed format may be submitted to the Secretary of the, deptt. of the concerned State Govt/UT administration, dealing with minority welfare, through the institutions where the students are pursuing technical/professional courses.  The student must submit their applications to the state which he/she belongs to and not to the state where the institution where he/she is studying, is located.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR BTech/BE/MTech/ME/MS/MSc GRADUATES FOR RESEARCH CAREER IN EARTH SYSTEM AND CLIMATE SCIENCES

The Centre for Advanced Training in Earth System Sciences and Climate (CAT-ESSC) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences hosted by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) is looking for scientist trainees with outstanding academic background. IITM is committed to develop world class research expertise for understanding and exploring unresolved scientific issues in climate science. The other institutions under the Ministry of Earth Sciences such as IMD, NCMRWF, INCOIS, NIOT, ICMAM, CMLRE and NCAOR also specialize in different areas of earth system sciences and technology. The main objective of CAT-ESSC is to generate a large pool of trained and dedicated earth and earth system scientists with in-depth hands-on expertise on individual physical processes of the
land, ocean, atmosphere, biosphere and cryosphere with special emphasis on climate modeling. For the motivated candidates, the training will offer considerable scope to realize their full potential in this highly challenging field. The candidates recruited will be provided this induction training extending to 18 months and on successful completion they will be placed in any one of the Institutes of the Ministry of Earth Sciences as Scientists in suitable grades (Scientist B/C) based on their basic qualifications and performance. There is option for pursuing MTech or/and PhD program before or after placement with facilities for career enhancement.

The candidates applying for the training should posses M.Sc/MS/MTech degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry, Oceanography, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, any area of Earth Sciences or any equivalent disciplines, with Physics and Mathematics at the B.Sc level or B.Tech / B.E / M.Tech / M.E in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering with 60% or more marks at both the graduate and post graduate level. The candidates should be CSIR National Eligibility Test (NET) or the IIT-Graduate Admission Test in Engineering (GATE) qualified. Those who are appearing for the final exams for the qualifying degree or NET/GATE may also apply subject to the condition that they produce the final certificates if and when called for the interview. The applicants should be of Indian origin and the upper age limit is fixed as 28 years (30 for MTechs) as on 31 March 2011 with relaxation as per eligibility.

The applications received will be screened and the candidates to be called for interview will be shortlisted based on their overall merit. The interviews will be held in Pune in July 2011. Candidates called for interview will be paid sleeper class train fare. The selected candidates inducted in the training program will be paid a consolidated remuneration of Rs.25,000/- per month. Hostel facilities will be available to the trainees. The no. of trainees in the first batch is tentatively fixed as Twenty. The training programme for the selected candidates is scheduled to start by early August 2011. The gross salary may range between Rs 44,000 to Rs 47,000 which includes DA/HRA, conveyance allowance, etc. Institute offers other facilities such as allowance for attending national/international conferences, Faculty Initiation Grant and other enablers for professional development.

Award: Young Researcher Award 2011

Applicants: MUST have publications in well recognised, peer reviewed journals of repute contributing to knowledge generation, recieved recognitions such as award(s) of major academies/ societies.

Benefits of Award: The awardee will be eligible for regular research grants through extramural and other research schemes of various S&T agencies of the Government of India.

Amount of the award:

  • Rs. 10,000/- per month in addition to a regular salary from the host institute.
  • In addition, the Young Researcher will receive a contingency grant of Rs. 5.00 lakhs per annum for meeting the expenses on consumables, minor equipment, international and domestic travel, manpower and other contingent expenditure to be incurred in connection with the implementation of the research project under the Award.

Duration of award: Initially for 3 years, extendable further by two years, on a review by the Experts’ Committee.

Eligbility:

  • Open to Indian Nationals, residing in India, who are below the age of 40 years as on 31st March 2011.
